Privacy Policy

This page explains what information TomeWizard (www.tomewizard.com) collects when you use it, and why. We have tried to keep it short and accurate.

Using the quiz without an account

You can use the mood quiz without signing in. When you ask for picks, your answers (the media type, the moods and genres you chose, any notes you type, and the titles already shown or skipped in that session) are sent to our recommendation service, which runs on Google Cloud and may use third-party AI models to generate suggestions. Please don’t put personal information in the notes box.

Accounts (Firebase)

Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, using either Google sign-in or an email address and password. Firebase stores your account identifier and email address; we never see your password.

If you sign in, we store the following in Google Cloud Firestore, linked to your account:

• your email address and the date your account was created;
• your library: titles you saved or skipped, their covers, creators, progress, page counts and ratings;
• if you join the developmental-editing waitlist: your email, the package you picked and when you joined.

Your browser also keeps a local copy of your library and a few preferences (theme, chosen editing package) in local storage on your device.

Covers and search

To show covers and search results, your browser sends title searches directly to public services: Open Library, Google Books, Apple iTunes Search and TVmaze, and loads book cover images from Bookshop.org’s image server. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and one icon from jsDelivr. Those services receive standard request information such as your IP address.

Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure page performance. It does not use cookies or local storage to track you, and it does not build profiles of individual visitors.

Amazon affiliate links

“Find it →” links go to Amazon search results and include our Amazon Associates tag (tomewizard08-20). As an Amazon Associate, TomeWizard earns from qualifying purchases. Once you are on Amazon, Amazon’s own privacy notice and cookies apply.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell your personal information.
• We don’t use advertising pixels or tracking cookies on this site.

Deleting your data

You can remove items from your library at any time inside the app. To have your account and its stored data deleted, contact us through the official TomeWizard channels.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
